What was generally served for Breakfast?
Breakfast was only a light snack which was usually a light snack of a cup of water and a piece of bread.
What was usually served for lunch?
Lunch was eaten at about midday and it was a light meal. It consisted of some sort of meat or fish as well as some fruit.
What was usually served for dinner?
Dinner began with the first course which was usually egg, fish or vegetables. This was followed by the main meal, which was a variety of meats (beef, pork, mutton and poultry). The night ended with dessert which was typically fruit, nuts, cheese and sweet dises.
Where did people eat their meals?
During winter, families ate in the inner-dining room near the atrium. During summer, they would eat in the dining room at the back of the house which looked straight into the garden.
