What are follicular adenomas?
A
A benign encapsulated tumor of the thyroid gland that is surrounded by a thin fibrous capsule.

What are the clinical features of follicular adenomas?
A
Often presents as a slow-growing solitary nodule
Can develop into a toxic adenoma, which produces thyroid hormones autonomously

How are follicular adenomas diagnosed?
A
(Fine needle aspiration cannot distinguish between follicular adenoma and carcinoma)
(Thyroid surgery) indicated both for treatment and definitive diagnosis

What is the treatment for follicular adenomas?
A
Lobectomy with histologic analysis
