Focused Testlest 2 Flashcards
Explain thompson test
-used for determining if theres an achilles rupture
-pt lies supine, clinician squeezes calf, if foot doesn’t plantarflex test is positive
Explain cotton test
-used to determine if theres a sprain to the distal tibiofibular syndesmosis
-pts ankle is in neutral, clinician cups calcaneus and talus and stabilizes the lower leg and attempts to translate talus laterally.
-test is positive if pain is increased and theres excessive lateral translation
anterior drawer test which ligaments
Primarily the anterior talofibular ligament, secondarily the other ligaments (calcaneofibular, posterior talofibular ligament)
Inversion talar tilt assesses which ligament primarily?
Calcaneofibular ligament
Kleigers (external rotation test) test tests which ligaments? Pain in what areas distinguishes where the injury is.
-Anterior tibiofibular ligament, posterior tibiofibular ligament, interosseous membrane, and deltoid ligament
-pain in anterolateral portion of ankle=syndesmosis injury, sprain over deltoid ligament= injury to that structure
