What are the “H’s” in H’s and T’s?
Hypovolema, Hypoxia, Hydrogen Ion(acidosis), Hypoglycemia, Hypothermia, Hypo/hyperkalemia.
What are the “T’s” in H’s and T’s?
Tension pneumo, Tamponade, Toxins, Thrombosis(PE), Thrombosis(coronary)
What is a classic S/S of Tamponade?
Pulsus parodoxus (BP drops on inhalation), decreased BP, increased HR
How is SVT defined in an infant? Child? Adult?
HR >220, HR > 180, HR > 150
When using an EPI Pen, what must you do to insure that all the medicine is injected?
Hold it in for 10 seconds.
When is Racemic EPI used?
When stridor is noted, indicating croup or blocked airway.
How much fluids are given for shock?
20mg/Kg unless Cardiogenic, then 10mg/Kg
What is the maximum time chest compressions should be delayed during CPR?
No more than a 10 second delay.
When is the only time Atropine is used with peds?
Is bradycardic due to a vagal response.
How many joules are used when shocking Peds Pt’s?
2-4/Kg, up to 10(adult rate)
