It brought him support as it painted an image to the public and showed all of Saddam’s good work but not all of Saddam’s work it didn’t show anything he wanted to hide or that would lose him support.

He dressed in a suit and attended meetings with countries and this showed the west that he was serious and it added to is cult of personality as it added to an image he created to show other countries and Iraq.

Saddam used the IIS( Iraqi Intelligence Service) they would arrest people and torture them.

Saddam was constantly crushing opposition so he would stay in power.

Saddam hired body doubles for himself and his family to decrease the chance of them being assigned.
