What are the basic colors of a map, and what does each color represent?

A

BLACK - indicates man made feature

RED-BROWN- the colors red brown identify cultural features, elevations such as countour lines readable in the map

BLUE- Identifies hydrography or water features

GREEN- Identifies vegetation

BROWN- all relief features and elevation

RED- classifies cultural features, such as populated areas, main roads, boundaries on older maps

Other- may be used to show special information.
