Fluids : Compressibility Flashcards
1
Q
What is compression?
A
Compression is the decrease in volume of a fluid due to the effect of a force or pressure
2
Q
What happens when a fluid is compressed?
A
When a fluid is compressed, the volume decreases and the particles become closer together. This causes an increase in density.
3
Q
How does the KMT relate to viscosity?
A
The KMT also relates to viscosity. Increasing the temperature of a liquid will cause it to become less viscous because the particles being further apart from each other makes it easier for them to flow past one another
