Fluids Flashcards
What is fluid?
Fluid can be any substances that can flow through a pipe
Define the term flow.
It is smooth unbroken movements of substances
What is gas?
It is a substance in a state of matter where particles can move freely
What is liquid?
Also substance Ina state of matter where there are weak bonds b/n particles.
Define the term incompressible.
It means even if force is applied on a substance the volume stays the same
Write the difference between liquid and gas.
Liquid
1.particles are close
2.there is weak bond
3.they are compressible
Gas
1.particlea far apart
2.no bonding
3.incompressible
Formula of density
Mass per volume
What is relative density
The ratio between the density of two substances
What does it mean when “something has a relative density of two”
It means it is twice as dence as water
What does it mean when “something has a relative density of 0.25”
It means it has1/4 or a quarter of the density of water
What does it mean when “something has a relative density of 0.25”
It means it has1/4 or a quarter of the density of water
Which formula do we use to find the relative density when we are comparing 2 identical volume of fluids
Relative density =mass of substance over mass of equal volume of water.
