Muscle weakness, cardiac arrhythmias, constipation, polyuria
Hyperkalemia (high potassium)
Muscle flaccidity, cardiac arrest
Hyponatremia (low sodium)
Decreased LOC, nausea, seizures
Hypernatremia (high sodium)
Decreased LOC, thirst, seizures
Hypocalcemia (low calcium)
Increase neuromuscular activity, positive Chvostek’s + Trousseau’s signs, laryngospasm
Hypercalcemia (high calcium)
Decreased neuromuscular excitability, cardiac dysrhythmias, constipation
Hypophosphatemia (low phosphorus)
Confusion, muscle weakness, cardiac dysrhythmias
Hyperphosphatemia (high phosphorus)
Hypocalcemia, tetany
Hypomagnesemia (low magnesium)
Hyperactive reflexes, tetany, cardiac dysrhymias
Hypermagnesemia (high magnesium)
Flushing, diaphoresis, diminished reflexes, decreased LOC, respiratory depression, cardiac dysrhythmias
Fluid Volume excess
Weight gain, edema, distended neck veins
Dehydration
Dry mucous membranes, flat neck veins, skin tenting
