Elevator Aileron Computer
ELAC Functions:
- Normal Elevator & Stabilizer Control
- Normal Aileron Control
- Acquisition of Autopilot Orders
- ALTERNATE Pitch
- DIRECT Pitch & Roll
- ABNORMAL ATTITUDE LAW
ELAC 1 Normal Law:
- Primary- Aileron Control
- Standby- Elevator/Stabilizer Control (backs up ELAC 2)
- Provides 5° Aileron Droop
ELAC 2 Normal Law:
- Elevator/Stabilizer
2. Standby- Aileron Control (backs up ELAC 1)
SEC (stands for):
Spoiler Elevator Computer
SECS (how many):

SEC Functions:
- Normal Roll (spoilers)
- Flight & Ground Spoilers (SEC 1- #3 & 4, SEC 2- #5, SEC 3- #2 flight & #1+2 grnd)
#1, 2, 3, 4, 5= Grnd
#2, 3, 4, 5=Roll
#2, 3, 4= Speed Brks - ALTERNATE Pitch
- DIRECT Pitch & Roll
- ABNORMAL ATTITUDE LAW
SECS (normal law):
- Primary- Spoiler Control
2. Standby- Elevator/Stabilizer Control (SEC 1 & 2 backup of ELACS if both failed)
SEC 3:
Spoiler Control
#2 spoiler flight, #1+2 ground
FAC (stands for):
Flight Augmentation Computer
FAC’s (how many):

FAC’s Functions:
- Normal Roll (yaw dampening & turn coordination)
- Rudder Travel Limit
- Rudder Trim
FAC’s Provide (Normal Law):
-(YAWL)
1.Yaw cntrl- damping, turn coordination, limiter, trim
2. Airspeed prot computation- PFD spd scale (VLS,
VFE, mnvrng spds=GD/S/F, Alpha Prot,…)
3. Windshear Detection
4. Low Energy Warn
BOTH FAC’s VALID:
- FAC1: Controls Yaw Damper, Turn Coordination, Rudder Limiter, Rudder Trim.
- FAC2: Standby.
- FAC1: Keeps aircraft within flight envelope through FD1.
- FAC2: Performs this through FD2.
