Q

What is determinate architecture?

A

SAM converts directly to floral meristem and flowering is terminal

Q

What is indeterminate architecture?

A

SAM forms an inflorescence meristem which forms floral meristem on its flanks. Inflorescence meristem can go on to make other organs

Q

what is the difference between simple and compound indeterminacy?

A

In simple determinacy, floral meristems form directly from IM in a similar flanking style to leaves.
Compound determinacy means flowers grow on branches off of the primary stem

Q

what is a cymes?

A

A cluster of flowers where SAM terminates, but allows a lateral axis to form

Q

Where are the different transcription factors expressed before the transition to flowering?

A

TFL1 is expressed in the centre of SAM and in the nodes between the leaf and meristem
LFY is mostly expressed in the young leaves and AP1 is not expressed

Q

Where are the transcription factors expressed after floral transition?

A

TFL1 is strongly expressed in the inflorescence meristem and not in the flanking floral meristems
LFY and AP1 mimic each other and are expressed strongly in the floral meristem and flanks of IM

Q

What other PEBP protein was discovered to be part of the regulatory network?

A

FT protein
was thought to reciprocally inhibit w TFL1
Found it was not direct inhibition
