Flight Safety S-70 Flashcards
What are some of the Emergency Systems that are on board the S-70A/L
A. Fire Protection System B. Fire Detection System C. Fire Extinguishing System D. Fire Extinguishing Arming Levers (T-Handles) F. Hand Operated Fire Extinguisher (TWO) G. Crash Axe H. First Aid Kits (Three)
How does the Fire Protection system notify the crew of a fire and where?
It provides warning to the cockpit in case of fire in either main engines or the APU compartment.
How many radiation-sensing flame detectors are installed in the helicopter?
5 detectors, two in each engine and one in the APU compartment.
If a fire is detected in the #1 Engine, how will the pilot know?
The fire light on the Master Warning and #1 Fire T-Handle will illuminate
How many fire bottle(s) are there in the fire suppression system?
There are two fire bottles to provide a two shot capability to either engine of APU compartment.
If there is no AC power applied (Battery power only) to the helicopter, can I fight a fire in the #2 engine compartment?
No. You need AC power to fight a fire in the #2 engine compartment
How many fire bottles can be used in the APU compartment if only one battery is applied to the helicopter? Which one is used if only one fire bottle?
Only the reserve fire bottle can be used if the battery is the sole source of power
How much G force is required to activate the crash actuated system?
10 G’s
Is there any limit and warning associated with the hand operated fire extinguisher?
Yes. Exposure to the high concentration of extinguishing product of CO2 may cause low temperature burns or frostbite
What type of landing gear system does the S 70 System have?
It has a non-retractable landing gear consisting of two main gear assemblies and one tail rotor assembly
What does the landing gear system consist of?
Single wheel, drag beam, and a two-stage oleo shock strut
Are there any limits, in feet per second, with the two stage shock strut landing gear system?
The lower stage will absorb energy from landing up to 10 ft./s. Above 10 ft./s the upper stage and lower stage combine to absorb loads up to 39 ft./s
How does the wheel brake system work?
It has a hydraulic disc brake. It also has a parking brake that is used by extending the parking brake handle and it is released by tapping on the toe break while holding the handle
What can you tell me about the tail landing gear?
It has a two stage shock strut tail cone that can swivel 360° when unlocked
What other functions are available on landing gear systems? What is installed on the left wheel?
Wow switch is installed on the left side of Landing gear provide control of selected systems when the helicopter is airborne. It is Deactivate it when the helicopter is on the ground
