What does MEL stand for?
Minimum equipment list.
What is a MEL?
A minimum equipment list is a document published by the operator and carried on the aircraft stating items of airworthiness (instruments, avionics, indicators, ice protection,…) which must be serviceable or attended to according to the procedures stated in the MEL before continuing with the next flight.
What is a CDL?
A configuration deviation list is a list published by the operator and carried on the aircraft listing items which may affect the performance of an aircraft if unserviceable and are generally external secondary airframe items.
What are the repair intervals in the MEL?
A = time interval as specified in the MEL B = 72 hrs (3 days, excluding day of defect occurrence) C = 240 hrs (10 days, excluding day of defect occurrence) D = 2880 hrs (120 days, excluding day of defect occurrence)
What does the symbol ‘O’ indicate in the MEL?
It indicated a procedure that may be operated by the crew.
What does the symbol ‘M’ indicate in the MEL?
It indicated a procedure that may be operated by maintenance personnel only.
