Flight controls Flashcards
What happens with aileron input?
Control Wheel connected to aileron PCU through aileron feel and centering unit
FO control Wheel is connected by cables to the spoiler PCU through the spoiler mixer
What does aileron trim do?
It electrically repositions the aileron feel and centering unit
What happens when aileron trim is used when using AP?
Autopilot overpowers trim but aileron can be out of trim upon disengagement of AP
When will the flight spoilers begin to rise in a turn?
When control Wheel is displaced by approx more than 10 degrees
How is stabilizer powered?
Electrically
How is elevator deflection achieved
By the use of PCU’s
How is elevator feel created?
Elevator pitot gives signal to elevator feel and centering unit which transfers the signal to the control columns
How and when does mach trim system work?
Above mach .615 FCC use mach info from ADIRU to compute mach trim actuator Position. Mach trim actuator repositions elevator feel and centering unit which adjusts neutral control column position
What modes do exist for stabilizer trim
High (trim) speed with Fext
low (trim) speed with Fret
What happens to trim of control column has opposing force
Trim will stop
What does STAB trim override switch do
It enables opposing control forces
What are the stabilizer bands
Main elec
Fext 0.05-14.5
Fret 3.95-14.5
Ap 0.05-14.5
Trim Wheel -0.20-16.9
What is the purpose of STS?
To return AirPlane with low gross weight, aft CG and high thrust to trimmed speed
When does STS operate?
100 KIAS - 0.6M with fadeout at 0.68M
10 sec after to
5 sec After trim release
Ap not engaged
Sensing of trim requirement
What does YD do at impending stall
Reduces yaw damper commanded movement
What does the ELev feel shift module do in case of impending stall?
Increases hyd press A to elev feel and centering unit. This will approx double control forces
When is EFS inhibited
Ac on GND
RA less than 100ft
AP engaged
What is main difference between stby rud PCU en main rud PCU
Main rud PCU has 2 input rods and control valves
STBY rud PCU has 1 input rod and control valve
What is the difference on ridder on GND and in flt
When approx above 135kts hyd A and HYD B pressure are reducered by 25% by rudder PCU to limit rudder authority
What happens of one rudder input is jammed?
Force flight monitor detects opposing pressure. It auto turns on stby rudder
How many yaw dampers installed?
Main and stby
What happens to roll with speedbrakes extended
It greatly increases roll Rate
What are the conditions for speedbrake system to operate auto upon ldg
Lever armed
Armed light illuminated
RA less than 10ft
Weight on wheels (GND spoilers right main gear)
TL set idle
Wheel spin up (>60kts)
What does happen on Fup ldg with spoilers
They go to flight detent
Once lever not armed what are the conditions for auto speedbrake
Main gear spin up
Both TL idle
Reverse thrust selected
What happens when thrust is advanced with speedbrakes ext
They retract
When does flap load relief system operate
When left ADIRU (captains airspeed) is too high for selected flap setting
When is flap load relief function active
F10-F40 with normal flap extension
When does LE uncommanded motion occur
When no autoslat command or flap pos command is given and
2 slats move on 1 wing or 2 LE flaps move on 1 wing
What can speed trim and mach trim fail indicate?
Failure of single FCC channel when light extinghuishes after recall is reset
What can auto slat fail light indicate
Failure of SMYD when extinghuished with master caution reset
What does speedbrake ext light indicate
In FLT speedbrake beyond armed and
TE > 10 or
RA < 800ft
on GND speedbrake lever in down and ground spoilers not stowed
With hyd A press less than 750PSI light wont work on GND
What does speedbrake do not arm mean
Abnormal condition or test Inputs to auto speedbrake system or during landing Wheel speed below 60kts and lever not down
