Flight Characteristics Flashcards
What is in the elevator control system to increase the force in the pitch axis?
A bob weight and downspring.
What does the trim aid computer take into consideration to command trim?
Engine torque, indicated airspeed, pressure altitude, pitch rate.
Best Glide
125KIAS, sink rate of 1350fpm, glide ratio of 2 NM/ 1000ft.
Gear down, flaps and speed brake extended: 105KIAS, sink rate of 1500fpm, glide ratio of 1.6NM/1000ft.
When does stick shaker activate?
Minimum of 5KIAS prior to stall speed.
Artificial stall warning is 5-10KIAS prior to stall speed. Natural aerodynamic buffet occurs 3KIAS before stall speed.
Above _____% torque, full right rudder and full right aileron may not prevent left roll off at stall.

Indications of a post stall gyration
- uncommanded aircraft motions about an axis
-stalled or near stalled AOA
-transient or erratic airspeed indications
-random turn needles deflections
Recovery from a post stall gyration
PCL- Idle
Controls - Neutral
Incipient Spin
Between a post stall gyration and steady state spin.
-Oscillations in pitch, roll, yaw attitudes and rates
-Fully deflected turn needle
-Airspeed that is accelerating or decelerating towards the steady state spin value
Lasts approximately 2 turns.
Steady State spin characteristics
Loses approximately - 4500ft
Lasts usually 6 turns.
Recovery- PCL-Idle, Controls-Neutral
Spiral Characteristics
-Airspeed increasing past 160KIAS
-Oscillatory motions
Recovery; PCL-Idle, Controls-Neutral
