Flight Admin Flashcards
What does OTP mean?
on time performance, the time allocated to the lesson for the pre-flight work.
What are the training zones?
west training area - main solo training
selwyn training area - backup training area
new Brighton GAA - section of controlled airspace used for general aviation. (G852) requires ATC approval to use so you will need to contact Chch approach on 120.9
What is a threat?
something which the pilot has little or no control over. Come at the pilot
What is an error
a result of mismanagement of threats. Error come from the pilot
What are the three aspects to threat and error management?
Aircraft management, human factors, situational awareness
What does TCTWO stand for?
Threats Charts Terrain Weather Operational
What are the takeoff and altitude call-outs?
Takeoff - Airspeed Active
- Rotate - Positive Climb
Altitude
- 1000 to go
- 200 to go
(Any time there are changes in altitude)
What is an ABRIEF check and what does it stand for?
Check done before arriving at an aerodrome and are often completed in conjunction with a TCTWO.
ATIS - copied
Brief the plate - arrival procedure and aerodrome plate
Radios - check correct frequency set and standby frequency set
Instruments - QNH set, DI and compass aligned
Engine - mixture rich, T’s and P’s green, fuel pump if required
Fuel - check state, change tanks if required, update fuel log
Consequences of damage (costs) (8)
Tires - 300 Wingtips - 500 - 600 Spinners - 600 Spats/Fairings - 600 - 700 Wings leading edge - 1000 Rudder - 1500 Prop - 2000 Engine - 14-15k
Hangering procedures?
Scheduler must be contacted to see where aircraft needs to be parked.
Contact club frequency 131.2. Will be told either ‘pumps’ (Taxi to pumps and help next student refuel)
‘Park’ (taxi to a parking spot and park into wind)
‘Hanger’ (taxi to the hanger and put aircraft away)
What are the considerations for hangering? (5)
- minimum 2 people, one to push the aircraft and the other to watch wingtips and tail
- ensure aircraft are placed on the markers
- check hanger doors are latched open
- don’t leave tow hooks attached to unattended aircraft
- take your time
Considerations for picketing (4)
park into wind
3 attachment points, each wind and rear of aircraft
Place pickets in front of aircraft then push aircraft forward
Lock controls with seatbelt - consider wind direction
Rules for refuelling? (6)
- No smoking or cellphone use near fuel pumps
- No one inside the aircraft when refueling
- Attach static discharge line
- Gently tap the nozzle against the fuel cap prior to opening the cap to equalise any electrical potential
- The nozzle needs to be supported and kept in contact with the filler neck
- Do not tap the nozzle against the filler neck after refuelling
What are the refuelling trading weights for planes?
Cherokee - 150 litres (75 per side)
Warrior - 150 litres (75 per side)
Tomahawk - 70 litres (35 per side)
Refuelling tips
- Park aircraft into wind at the fuel pumps
- Pay close attention to wing tips
- Lastly never leave your plane at the fuel pumps unattended!!
