What is the flexor tendon sheath
A
Synovial sheath surrounded by a fibrous layer that provides a number of functions:
- synovial fluid provides lubrication and nutrition for the flexor tendons
- Prevents bowstringing of the flexor tendons
- Acts as a falcrum to faciliate finger flexion

- Enclosed space comminicating with the palmar fascia
- Tendon adhesions
- Tendon necrosis and rupture
- System sepsis
