Equipment Required - Cleaning Solution, Sterile Drape, Sterile Gloves, Gauze, Instillagel, Irrigation fluid, Flexible Cystoscope and stack, Irrigation giving set, Assistant *potentially - stent grabber, biopsy forceps, bugbee diathermy, S-DIlators *

Consent - Ensure comfortable/patient details are correct. Explain procedure in simple terms using pictures/patient leaflet
Risks - Bleeding, Infection (<3%), LUTS (Dysuria/Frequency),

Perform -
Position - Supine (men) + lithotomy (women)
Ensure cystoscope connected to stack and irrigation is set up
Flush cystoscopy through with irrigation fluid
Ensure camera images are adequate
Clean - Glans or Labia
Insert instillagel into urethral meatus
Ask assistant to help me while i advance scope into urethral meatus
Turn irrigation fluid on and gently navigate the urethra
Consider squeezing on bag if prostate is enlarged
*Pay particular interest to the prostatic urethra/BN in men with haematuria - potential site of bladder Ca
*
In the Bladder:
- Deflect scope posteriorly - inspect trigone/visualise both ureteric orifices
- Systematically examine the bladder ensuring posterior wall, anterior wall, both lateral walls,dome and bladder neck have been covered.
- Perform J Maneouvere and observe bladder neck / intravesical prostate lobe
- Slowly retract the scope to re-inspect prostate, EUS, Urethra
