What is stage 1 of the menstrual cycle and when is it?
Egg produced
day 1-12
What is stage 2 of the menstrual cycle and when is it?
Egg travels down fallopian tube
days 12-19
What is stage 3 of the menstrual cycle and when is it?
Blood lining and uterus thickens
days 19-20
What is stage 4 of the menstrual cycle and when is it?
Blood lining will be shed
20-29
What are the plant sex cells?
Pollen and ovule.
What is stage 1 of reproduction in plants?
Pollen released from anther.
What is stage 2 of reproduction in plants?
Pollen lands on stigma of another plant
What is stage 3 of reproduction in plants?
Pollen is moved down pollen tube and lands in ovule.
What is stage 4 of reproduction in plants?
Egg fertilised and seed produced by pollen.
What is the Fallopian tube?
Site of fertilisation and where egg travels down.
What are the ovaries?
Produces egg cells and oestrogen.
What is the uterus?
Where a baby grows and develops.
What is the cervix?
Where sperm enters.
What is the purpose of the Placenta
Transports necessary nutrients and products from the mother’s blood to the fetus. It also transports hormones from mother’s blood.
What is the conservation of energy?
Energy cannot be destroyed but only transformed into another form/
What is useful energy?
Energy that is useful for the machine that you are using such as this device. The usefull energy is the light.
What is the unit of energy?
Joules
How to calculate efficiency
Total useful energy
____________________ X100
Total output energy
What are fossil fuels?
Naturally found fuels that can be burned to produce energy
e.g. coal
What is produced by burning fossil fuels?
Carbon Dioxide
Why is carbon dioxide bad for the enviroment?
Greenhouse gas is released which is trapped in the atmosphere, which contributes to climate change.
What is a renewable energy source?
An energy source that doesn’t run out
How can wave produce energy?
Waves have gravitational energy which is transferred to kinetic energy when it moves. Kinetic energy is used to move a turbine, generating electrical energy.
How can Biomass produce energy
Trees can be burnt to produce thermal energy which is then transferred to kinetic energy to push a turbine makeing electrical energy.
How can wind produce energy?
Wind contains kinetic energy which moves turbines and transfers to electrical energy.
How can solar panels produce energy?
They take in light and heat energy from the sun and transfer to electrical energy.
How can nuclear energy produce energy?
Nuclear energy goes to heat energy which can turn a turbine.
What is the speed equation?
Distance
_________
Time
What is the unit for speed?
Meters per second
What is the speed of sound experiment?
Somone makes a sound and someone 100m away will start a stopwatch when they see the sound being made and will stop it when they hear the sound.
What is an anomaly?
Something different from other results and not following the pattern.
What is the stopping distance?
The distance traveled before hitting the brakes and fully stopping.
What is the Debunking/braking distance?
The distance travelled by a car when the driver realises s/he needs to stop.
What can be a factor of the debunking distance?
-If the driver is drunk/tired
-The speed of the car
What can factor the debunking distance
-Condition of road/car
What precautions should you take during pregnancy?
- Don’t smoke as the baby may get lung disease.
-Vitamins allow the baby to grow.
Adaptions of leaves for photosynthesis
-Leaf gas stomata which open to allow carbon dioxide in
-Leaf has a large surface area allowing carbon dioxide to be absorbed.
What is a mutation
A rare change in DNA.
How does the carbon cycle go?
1) Plants and humans respire, releasing carbon dioxide into the environment
2) Plants also photosynthesize, taking carbon dioxide from the environment
3) When a plant dies, a decomposer will come and break down the plant and will use the glucose to respire, releasing more carbon dioxide.
4) Combustion and machines releasing more into the atmosphere.
What is the speed equation?
Speed=Distance/time
What is the equation for weight?
