Continent
One of the 7 world landmasses (They are Australia, Asia, North America, South America, Europe, Antarctica, and Africa) I live in North America.
Equator
The 0 degree latitude line. The equator divides the earth into North and South poles.
Prime Meridian
The 0 degree longitude line. The prime meridian divides the earth into East and West.
Geography
The study of physical features on earth. Such as mountains, hills, rivers, oceans, continents, etc.
History
The study of the past and peoples culture. Such as the presidents.
Civics
The study of privileges, obligation, being a citizen, and the laws of the place you live in. This helps you become a better person so you know what to do and what not to do.
Economy
The ways people make or spend money. Economy is jobs or businesses.
Society
People that are apart of the same thing. Such as culture or even political reasons and also just people that live in your neighborhood are society. Society is just all minorities.
Compass Rose
Shows your location by using North, East, South, and West. To remember use Never Eat Soggy Waffles.
Scale
Tells you distance on a map. Example - 1 inch is 1,000 miles.
Key
Explains things on a map and what the different symbols mean. Example - A red line a road map is a highway while blue lines are streets.
Map Title
Shows what the map is about and what it is showing. Example - Room, State, Country, City, Park, etc.
Political Map
Shows borders, capitals cities, country names, and also boarder between states. Example - Great wall of China.
Physical Map
A physical map shows land. Example - Hills, mountains, deserts, ocean, river, etc.
Thematic Map
A Thematic Map shows population, timezone, climate and information on the country. A thematic map is a special purpose map.
