GET THE BIG PICTURE
a. How wide and deep? What’s in it? Objects and ground.
b. Keeps you away from billboards. Smooth stops and turns. Buys time
c. “STAY BACK AND SEE IT ALL”
What’s the Keep Eyes seeing habit?
KEEP YOUR EYES MOVING
a. Move eyes. Front – 2 seconds, Rear – 5 to 8 seconds
b. Keeps you alive at intersections, keeps eyes ahead of car
c. “SCAN – DON’T STARE”
What’s the Leave Yourself seeing habit?
LEAVE YOURSELF AN OUT
a. Have escape route, take path of least resistance.
b. Space on all four sides, but always in front
c. “BE PREPARED, EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED”
What’s the Make Sure seeing habit?
MAKE SURE THEY SEE YOU
a. Communicate in traffic – horn, lights, signals
b. Establishes eye-to-eye contact
c. “DON’T GAMBLE – USE YOUR HORN, LIGHTS, AND SIGNALS”
