Fitness Tests Flashcards
Functional threshold
The highest intensity that a performer can work for an hour.
Then the performer should keep intensity over a period of time.
Personalised training zones to be created.
SUBMAXIMAL AEROBIC FITNESS
Lactate threshold
Occurrence of lactate accumulation in the blood.
Determines when aerobic exercise is taking place.
Performer increases the intensity of exercise until being exhausted.
Blood samples are being taken at each stage.
Then a test is being done to see lactate accumulation.
SUBMAXIMAL AEROBIC FITNESS
Gas analysis
Athlete measures the composition of the air they are breathing out.
Measures VO2 max.
By using a mouthpiece into a specialised bag.
EXERCISE ECONOMY
Multi-stage fitness test
2 sets of cones are spreads 20m apart.
A beep is emitted from a recording.
The performer must run to the other cone before the recording.
The beeps shorten each time.
MAXIMAL AEROBIC FITNESS
Step test
Performer at a pace of 22 or 24 steps per minute.
Once finished heart rate is recorded.
MAXIMAL AEROBIC FITNESS
Yo-yo test
Similar to multi-stage.
Athlete starts at a higher pace until exhaustion.
MAXIMAL AEROBIC FITNESS.
Cooper 12-minute run
Performer runs around a track for 12 minutes.
Aiming to cover as great a distance they can.
MAXIMAL AEROBIC FITNESS
Wingate test
Cycle ergometer.
Performer cycles as fast as they can for 30 sec.
A load is dropped in the wheels, making it harder to pedal.
Formulae can be used to determined peak power produced.
ANAEROBIC CAPACITY
Maximum accumulated oxygen deficit
10 . 4 minutes submaximal bouts of exercise.
ANAEROBIC CAPACITY
Repeated anaerobic sprint test
Two sets of cones placed 35 meters apart.
Performer sprints from one set of cones to another.
Then sprints back to start.
Rest for10 sec.
This is repeated 3 times.
Time is recorded for a calculation.
ANAEROBIC CAPACITY
Cunningham and Faulkner
Performer runs on a treadmill at 8 mph at incline 20% until exhausted.
Time to exhaustion is recorded
ANAEROBIC CAPACITY
Jump test
Performer stands beside a wall.
Jumps and touches the wall at he highest point they can.
Height of this point is measured.
ANAEROBIC POWER
Margaria-Kalamen
Performer is weighed.
Set of 12 steps placed 6m in front of performer.
Performer then sprints to seteps.
Aims to touch the 3rd, 6th and 9th step.
Time taken from 3rd to 9th step is recorded.
ANAEROBIC CAPACITY.
Strength test 1
Performer lifts as heavy weight as they can to complete 1 repetition.
The weight is recorded.
ANAEROBIC CAPACITY
Strength test 2
The performer grips a handgrip dynamometer with as much force they can.
Value produced on dynamometer is recorded.
ANAEROBIC CAPACITY.
