an athlete needs to set a baseline for their fitness. this is so they know what their current level is, which will help them track progress.

an athlete would have to monitor their performance which will show if they are improving or not.

compare agains national averages
you know if you are doing batter or around other people your age so you know what to compare yourself to.

change exercises so you don’t get bored of what you are doing.

plan your training programme so it will cover what you want it too and the muscles you are using
do not replicate the movements of the activity
the activity you are doing doesn’t link with the fitness test as it is not specific enought to the sport.

if you don’t do the fitness test perfectly accurate it won’t be right and won’t benefit you.

need to be accurate and good for the fitness test to work.
