Luke 1:5-7
Herod’s background. He was commissioned by Roman Senate 40BC, began ruling 37BC, died 4BC. Zechariah and Elizabeth had no children.
Three Scriptures where it showed barrenness but still blessed.
Genesis 18: Sarah
Judges 13: Manoah’s Wife
1 Samuel 1: Hannah
Luke 1:8-10
18k priests were there and Zechariah was chosen. Only two priests a day were chosen to burn incense.
Luke 1:11-17
Angel of God went to Zechariah. Our prayers are answered by angels. Angel tells him to name the baby John the Baptist.
Malachi 4:5-6
400 years later before the Word came.
Luke 1:18-20
Unbelief produces silence. When you don’t believe in absolute truth, you remain silent.
Luke 1:21-25
We are so blessed to be in the Kingdom. The test is Malachi.

Zechariah doubted. Mary wondered how.

Mary met with Elizabeth. She did not go home, implying she was an orphan. Baby leaped for joy. This is how Mary found out she was pregnant.

The birth of John. John means the Lord is gracious.
