What are the controllable qualities of light?

Intensity
The brightness of a light
Color
The primary colors of light are red, green, and blue, and the secondary light colors are cyan, magenta, and yellow.
Distribution
The form, direction, and focus of a light
Movement
Moving lights as well as lights fading on one side while rising on another to create movement to our eyes.
Objectives of Stage Lighting
Selective visibility, revelation of form, composition, mood, information

Altering the perception of shapes onstage, specifically creating shadows to emphasize 3d shapes

“Painting the stage with light”. Using all controllable qualities of light, we create a composition.
Mood
The feeling that is felt from the lights

Helps the audience know what time, season, or weather it is.
Lighting Supervisor
The go between for designers and the electrics staff. In small productions this is also the role of the ME
Deck Electrician
A member of run crew for a production. Responsible for all aspects of running lights that happens on or backstage
Load in Electrician
AKA production electrician. Hired per day per project. Hangs, circuits, and focuses lights.
Light Board Operator
Runs the board
