What are the overall objectives of every incident?
1) Prevent further injury or loss of life.
2) Rescue the injured or trapped.
3) Minimize property and environmental damage.
4) Stabilize the incident so that no additional injury or damage can occur.
What is in the First In Response document?

Size- Up
This is the quick gathering of information that you will need for your report. This is mostly visual info you can see upon arrival or obtain from dispatch.
Report
This is the information you should relay to dispatch and responding units in your first initial transmissions. It will always include info from your size-up
Assign
These are the assignments you should consider making for the initial response units.
Tactical Worksheets
The second page of every section. It’s designed to be used to track assignments and the progress of the incident to completion.
Assessment section
The section that is imperative to a successful mission. You must determine what you have before you can successfully make assignments to efficiently meet the objectives.
Considerations and safety
Should be roffered to early, in order to meet the first objective, of preventing further injury or loss of life
Section 15
Reserved for Company Officers permanently assigned to the appartus to add information they believe would be helpful in responding to incidents in their particular districts.
Structure Fire Response - Size-up
- Visible situation - Structure size, occupancy and construction. Fire activity.
- Exposures - Buildings, vehicles, utility equipment.
- Known or possible rescues - 360° complete
Structure Fire Response - Report
- Visible situation including all information from Size- Up.
- Command and command post location.
- Request additional resources.

What resources do you get with a 1st alarm structure fire?
• 1 Battalion Chief
• 4 Engines

What resources do you get with a 2nd alarm structure fire?
• 2 additional Sparks FD engine companies to the incident
• Automatic recall of all off-duty personnel to staff reserve apparatus
• Mutual aid request for 1 engine & 1 truck from Reno FD to staff Station 1

Second Arriving Engine Company – Structure Fire
Water Supply, Back – up Attack/2-in/2-out Back-up Team
Third Arriving Engine Company – Structure Fire
RIT and Utilities

This company will normally be assigned as a Rescue and Evacuation Group and/or Ventilation Group

Assigned as needed, PPV, Ladders, Utilities, Salvage/Overhaul
Exterior Structure Designations
2 in/ 2 out Back-Up Team (SOP 2.11)
*If 1st in engine is a 4 person company- the firefighter would track interior personal while the operator would take on other roles.
If the initial arriving company is staffed with 3 people, the 2nd in apparatus should fill this role.
One member SOLELY dedicated to tracking interior personnel
Other member may take on other roles, as long
as the individual is able to perform assistance or
rescue activities without jeopardizing the safety or health of any firefighter working at the incident
Minimum equipment needed for 2 in/ 2 out
• Charged back up hose line
• Ground ladder (appropriate length)
