Actors (International/Global)
This refers to any entity that plays a role in international/global politics, including states, other organizations, and groups.
International System
A system can be thought of as a whole that functions as a whole because of the interdependence of the parts.
What does the international system consist of?
Actors and the processes that they use to interact across state borders.

Interests being embedded with values and that actors want what they want because they attach value to it.

Qualifications for a state in international law
1) A defined territory
2) A permanent population
3) Effective control over territory and population by a central government

Nation
A group of culturally and historically similar people who feel a communal bond and who feel they should govern themselves to at least some degree; includes ethinic groups or ethnicities.
Physical MAPS
A unified reality divided only by natural features.
Political Maps
Politically defined territories, political boundaries or borders that place an overlay on the physical map.
Ethnic and Ethnonational Maps
Mapping cultural ares that designate those portions of the world who’s people share similar beliefs, customs, languages, and skills.

More than one nation in the same state.
Irredentism
A nation having an interest in the recovery of territory culturally of historically related to nation but now subject to a foreign government.
