First Element Of Physics Flashcards
What is an insulator?
Any material that does not allow the flow of energy or charged electrons through it.
Examples-rubber, dry wood, plastic.
What is a potentiometer?
Volume control on radio, dimmer switches
Changing the flow of energy.
What is a transformer?
Increases or decreases voltage.
What are electric filters?
Remove unwanted frequencies and increase wanted frequencies.
What is a fuse?
Device that ‘blows’ when excess current flows through a circuit.
Also known as a circuit breaker or safety device.
What is a rectifier?
Converts AC to DC
What is an oscillator?
Produces a repetitive signal.
What is an anode?
Positively charged electrode.
Current flows into anode.
What is a cathode?
Negatively charged electrode.
Current flows out of electrode.
What is an anion?
Carries negative electrical charge.
What is a cation?
Carries positive electrical charge.
What is a conductor?
Any material which allows the flow of energy or charged electrons through it.
Examples-water, copper, gold.
OZONE
Made by:
High frequency - induction coil
Induction creates a spark, spark changes the attraction of ions
