Shout for help
- Call or ask someone else to call an ambulance
- Update QC (1116 to QC) ask for backup if needed/police medic?
- Ask members of the public (what happened/If they are local and know where a Defid is?)

Catastrophic bleed

A

Access top to toe for bleed (pat & look)
If found
- Pressure
- Tourniquet (Use on limbs, Turn until unable to turn/blood stopped & Note time applied) on tourniquet or with blood on persons head)
- Bandage
- Pack wound (pressure, find artery, pack with dressing)

  • Check
  • Clear (turn them over, lift and tilt head)
  • Open (lift head back, open mouth, aim for tongue to be open)

Breathing

A
  • Hand on stomach and ear by mouth, listen for breaths in 10 secs
  • If not present, start CPR

Adult - 30/2 (rescue breaths not always needed/assess person)
Child - 5 rescue breaths & then 30/2 (one hand)
Infant - 5 rescue breaths & then 30/2 (fingers)

  • Update
    ○ QC - CPR started
    ○ Ambulance
  • Prep Deliberator
    ○ Check who it’s for (adult/child)
    ○ Turn on
    ○ Prep person
    § Take off shirt
    § Shave
    § Wipe were pads will need to go
    § Pop pads on
    Adult (top left and under heart on right)
    Child (front & back)
    ○ Await machine analysing heartrate
    ○ Get everyone to stand back
    ○ Await if shock advised
    ○ If shock advised
    § Get everyone to stand back
    § Shout Clear top, middle & bottom & press shock
    ○ Restart CPR
    § If needing to switch, count in
    ○ Another shock can be given 2 mins afterwards
