Define first aid
The immediate care given to an injured or ill individual to keep him or her alive or stop further damage until help arrives
What is an AED?
Automated external defibrillator

A device used to stop the flow of blood through a vein or artery by compressing a limb; used for arterial bleeding; a medical professional can remove it

Heat cramps, heat exhaustion, heatstroke

1st degree - mild, pain/reddening of skin; 2nd - pain, redness, swelling, blistering; 3rd - severe, destruction of skin through to the underlying tissues, loss of fluid, sometimes shock
4 lifesaving tips
Clear the airway, stop the bleeding, treat for shock, bandage the wound
What is the Heimlich maneuver used for?
To clear a blocked airway

To restore breathing

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation; to restore the heartbeat and breathing of a patient

Restore breathing to an accident victim
