Q

What is the treatment for deep frostbite.

A

Get victim indoors, reward area by placing them in warm water or hot water bottles.
Other methods:
Placing hot water bottles under the armpits, against abdomen, or in between legs. Never rub the frostbiten area. Seek medical attention immediately.

19
Q

What are the symptoms of heat stroke?

A

Victim is unable to eliminate excessive heat build up. Hot and or dry skin, uneven pupil dilation, weak rapid pulse.

20
Q

What is the treatment of heat stroke?

A

Make sure the body gets cool. Douse body with cold water. Apply cold, wet towels to the body and move body to coolest place possible. Maintain an open airway. Place victim on back with shoulders raised slightly.

21
Q

What are the methods of controlling bleeding?

A

Direct pressure
Elevation
Pressure points
Tourniquet (as a last resort)

22
Q

What does CPR stand for and what are the steps?

A

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Circulation
Airway
Breathing

23
Q

What are the symptoms of an obstructed airway?

A

One of the most reliable indications of an airway obstruction is the victims inability to talk.
Other indicators include grasping and pointing to the throat, exaggerated breathing efforts, skin turning a bluish color.

24
Q

What are the methods for clearing an obstructed airway?

A

The Heimlich maneuver is the most preferred method. If the victim is laying down reclining abdominal thrusts are preferred.
If none of these work CPR is a last resort. If that doesn’t work. Seek medical attention immediately.
