Q

What does Packet Filtering do?

A

Management program that can block network traffic IP protocol, IP Address, and a port number. Weak: it operates at the port level, all web traffic is allowed or no web traffic is allowed.

Q

What does a Proxy Firewall do?

A

Filters messages at the Application Layer. Acts as a middleman/gateway between interior and exterior network gateways. Provides deep packet analysis of incoming traffic.

16
Q

What is the difference between Stateless and Stateful?

A

Stateful has memory, Stateless does not. Stateful can detect and track per rules it is given (such as putting a limit on how long a user on the network can access http80).

17
Q

What does SMLI do?

A

SMLI has memory. It can remember states and have rules such as “Weldon has used 6 gigabytes of http80 https443 data, he cannot use http or https until midnight.”
