on PC, in the case of deadly force. That PC is based on the belief that the subject is engaging in or will engage in behavior that is likely to result in death or serious physical injury to yourself or someone else. - that is based on the deadly force triangle
What are the four rules of firearm safety?
- Treat every gun as if its loaded
- Muzzle in safe direction until we are ready to fire
- Keep your finger outside the trigger guard until you are on target and/or ready to fire
- Always be sure of your target, and to the best extent possible, aware of what is beyond the target
What’s the five fundamentals of marksman?
- Stance
- Grip
- Breathing
- Sight alignment / sight picture
- Trigger press
What are the three type of weapon malfunctions?
Close port, open port, stuck slide
How do you clear a open port malfunction?
Lock slide back, unload, cycle multiple times, lock, combat reload
How do you clear a closed port malfunction?
Tap mag, rack, ready (An immediate reaction drill)
What do you do if you have a stuck slide malfunction?
Try to cycle, pray
What are the three points of the Deadly force triangle?
ability, opportunity, intent to create imminent jeopardy
What are the three types of loading techniques?
- Administrative
- Combat
- Tactical
Resistance control continuum: 6 levels of control? OFFICER
Officer presence, verbal directions, soft empty hand, hard empty hand, intermediate weapons, Deadly force
What are the 6 Levels of resistance? SUSPECT
Physiological intimidation, verbal noncompliance, passive resistance, defensive resistance, active aggression, deadly force assaults
How and when do you perform: Administrative Reload ?
Put mag into gun while holstered.
At the range on the line, when you go on or off duty. In a passive setting. One in the chamber!
How and when do you perform: Combat Reload?
Bring the gun tucked and down range, strip mag to ground, insert new mag, rack over top, back on target.
How and when do you perform: Tactical Reload?
Bring the gun down tucked center mass. With index and pointer finger grab mag, thumb and index strip mag out. Insert new mag and discard old mag in pocket. rack over top, back on target.
While behind cover and suspect out of sight
