FIRE CONTROL Flashcards
Label horizontal/vertical plane geometry
3 Components fire control geometry (Which is most important and why)
TAS ALTITUDE BANK ANGLE
-TAS is more critical component.
It can create errors in both AZ and EL.
ORRIDE. What does it do. What modes of fire are effected. What effects? What gunfire inhibits?
Allows Pilot to fire guns without completely stopping FCS MC processing.
Can be used in all modes except trainable (Semi and Fixed)
Fire envelope, box and train envelope (describe)
Firing Envelope: Software limit that prevents damage to aircraft when employing guns
Trainable Box: A user-defined firing envelope. Centered on the nominal lag and depression angles of the gun.
Training Envelope: Limits gun movement when positioning by any method other than manually.

List and describe 2 recommendations by 18th for improving accuracy
Improve Sensor shot calls (more accurate), include derotation and target track
Call point of impact instead of center of plume
THERE IS 1 MORE!
Describe Siacci range, limit and overcome
Used as an estimation of free-fall trajectory.
Developed for flat-fire trajectories with angles of departure of less than 15 degrees.
Limitations:
Accuracy decreases at >15 degrees angle of departure
Equates to shortened stand-off ranges for AC-130 Solution
Faster computing allows derivative processing
Given 2 modes of fire, tell which on is more accurate and why
