A

-40°F to 300°F

30
Q

It is use to remain in contact with and lubricants moving surfaces without leaking out under the force of gravity.

A

Grease

31
Q

Advantages of Greases

A

Stay where it is placed, easy to control

Excellent sealing capability

Can withstand heavy shock load

Requires less frequent application

32
Q

Advantage of Oils

A

The most effective lubricant

Excellent cleaning and flushing capability

Can be used in recirculative system

Within Centralized system, generally more stable than grease

33
Q

Disadvantages of Greases

A

Has a lower operating temperature than oil

Harden in bearing in higher-temperature application

Requires greater pump pressure and line size to move grease around centralized system

Introduced contamination from poor manual greasing

34
Q

Disadvantages of Oils

A

More difficult to control surface area

Requires mechanical seals to control leakage

35
Q

Functional Properties of Grease

A

Grease functions as a sealant to minimize leakage and to keep out contaminants.

Grease is easier to contain than oil.

Grease holds solid lubricants in suspension.

Fluid level does not have to be controlled and monitored.
