Carpal Tunnel Syndrome:
a. ) Presentation/what is it?
b. ) MMT/goni
c. ) Special test(s)
d. ) Tx in clinic
e. ) HEP
a. ) Median nerve entrapment. Feels better when shaking it out
b. ) BEST = PIP finger flexion (to look for weakness of flexor digittorum superficialis…..stabilize the Proximal phalange and resist the middle phalange) Wrist flexion and wrist extension ROM
c. ) Phalen’s/reverse phalen’s, figure 8, tinel of the carpal tunnel, r/o vascular involvement with allens test, r/o pronator teres syndrome with pronator teres test
d. ) Massage to carpal tunnel, volar spreading of wrist, dorsal wrist glide to help with wrist flexion or volar wrist glide to help with wrist ext.
e. ) Splinting in neutral, education to keep the hand above the heart to help with swelling, stretched into wrist flexion and extension to use new ROM
De Quervain’s:
a. ) Presentation/what is it?
b. ) MMT/goni
c. ) Special test(s)
d. ) Tx in clinic
e. ) HEP
a. ) pain in the thumb area on the tendons of extensor pollcis brevis and abductor pollicis longus. inflammation of the extensor pollcis brevis and/or the abductor pollcis longus
b. ) ROM- thumb extension and thumb abduction. MMT- thumb extension and thumb abduction
c. ) Finklestein’s
d. ) Eccentric training for extensor pollcis brevis and/or abductor pollcis longus, 1st CMC radial glide, 1st CMC dorsal glide, and massage to area
e. ) self eccentrics or stretch into thumb extension to use new ROM

Medial Elbow instability:
a. ) Presentation/what is it?
b. ) MMT/goni
c. ) Special test(s)
d. ) Tx in clinic
e. ) HEP
a. ) common in pitchers. may hear a “pop”
b. ) MMT- elbow flexion and elbow extension
c. ) Valgus stress test
d. ) stregthen what was found to be weak
e. ) continue to strengthen what was found to be weak
Lateral Elbow Instability:
a. ) Presentation/what is it?
b. ) MMT/goni
c. ) Special test(s)
d. ) Tx in clinic
e. ) HEP
a. ) Common MOI is trauma due to a fall (FOOSH)
b. ) ROM- wrist flexion (to see if wrist extensors are tight and leading to the pain) MMT wrist flexion or wrist extension.
c. ) Varus stress test
d. ) stregthen what was found to be weak
e. ) continue to strengthen what was found to be weak
Lateral Epicondylagia:
a. ) Presentation/what is it?
b. ) MMT/goni
c. ) Special test(s)
d. ) Tx in clinic
e. ) HEP
a. ) obvious
b. ) MMT wrist extension or ROM wrist flexion
c. ) Cozen, Mills, Maudsley
d. ) Eccentric training for wrist extensors, massage/trigger point release for ECRB, or contract-relax ti improve wrist flexion ROM
e. ) Theraband for wrist extension strengthening or self stretch into wrist flexion
