Dermatome test purpose
Dermatomes are areas on the skin that are associated with nerves from the spine
Testing these areas can determine any sensory loss corresponding to a particular nerve root
Myotome Test Purpose
- Myotomes are groups of muscles that are innervated by motor fibres of a single nerve
- Testing this can identify any weaknesses in your muscle function
Deep Tendon Reflex purpose
Tested to assess the functioning of the nerve or nerve roots supplying the reflex
Blood pressure test purpose
This test measures the force that your blood is pushing against the walls of your arteries
Pulse Test purpose
Assess how much your heart is beating per minute. A normal rate will be between 60 to 100bpm
