Definition: A linear arrangement of a series of interior doors, as to a suite of rooms, so as to provide a vista when the doors are open. Also in regards to papal apartments. Further you could go into the apartments, and the further out the host would come to greet the individual, the more important the individual.

stemma
Definition: a family line of descent, a family crest; also symbols of the papacy
Example: pamphilj crest on the outside of S. Andrea al Quirinale = dove & olive branch (symbols of the family), crossed keys (papal symbol), crown (b/c Camillo Pamphilj was a prince, not a pope or cardinal)
ceiling program
Definition: the concetto; the theme & story and how the elements/mediums work to help that
Example: Audience Hall Ceiling at the Palazzo Borghese in Rome by Ermenegildo Constantini 1767-68
dragon & crown of the Borghese family crest, science & liberal arts are shown paying homage to the family crest. shows that the family is knowledgeable, just rulers, and educated = visual justification
personification
Definition: the representation of an abstract quality or idea given human characteristics.
Example: Prudence, Dignity, and Power in Divine Providence by Pietro da Cortona at the Palazzo Barberini, Rome 1633-39
