The “glass” component of glaze.

The element of glaze responsible for lowering the melting point

Bisque
Clay that is still wet enough to work with, yet dry enough to hold its form without sagging.
Leather-hard
When clay is totally void of water and ready to be fired.
Bone-dry
This is the percent of shrinkage in fired clay.

The bottom of a clay pot or vessel.
Foot
High-fire clay, usually gray in color with lots of grog.
