primarily collection of wild foods, plant/animal content in diet varies on environment, tend to be fairly mobile, vast majority of human history

domesticated plants produced in low intensity, small fields and gardens, could include small range of domestic animals, simple technology, digging sticks, hoes etc.
describe pastoralists
herding animals, animals bred, products form basis for subsistence, can be sedentary but tend to move herds depending on resources
