This assesses whether or not a new system fits within a company’s customs and culture etc.
What is a service pack?
It’s like a really big patch. They come along less frequently too.
What is the “waterfall?
This describes the difficulty in going back to an earlier phase of the SDLC.
What is a test plan?
It’s basically testing software for bugs. The plan should test every line of code.
CIO vs CTO
The Chief information officer reports to the CEO and manages the IS department. The Chief technology officer heads the technology group and is in charge of evaluating new technology and ideas.
What is green computing?
Environmentally conscious computing that focuses on power management, virtualization, and e-waste management.
What is a steering committee?
The committee consists of the senior managers from each department. It’s purpose is to set priorities for the IS department.
What is APT?
Advanced Persistent Threat. It’s a sophisticated, possibly long running hack, usually perpetrated by a government or large organization.
What is asymmetric encryption?
With this, two keys are used, one for encoding and one for decoding. symmetric encryption uses one key for both.
What is a smart card?
A smart card is an ID card that has a chip in it and holds more information than a regular card. Smart card users need to enter a PIN number.
What is DOS?
Denial of Service.
What is HTTPS?
Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure.
What is key escrow?
When an encryption key is given to a trusted party. This is done in case data is destroyed at you own company, so that the data may be recovered.
