Johann Olaf Koss

Was a Norwegian athlete - won long distance skate events - 3 gold medals at the Lillehammer games – national hero – medical student – won money from Norway for his medals (was already common at the games by this time). He donated his prize money to an Olympic relief program (provided supplied to Bosnian wars). He also became associated with refugees around the world. In the refugee camps, he tried to gather funding for sports programs for the children in these camps. He had a large impact. He even did a lot of fundraising in Canada, and married a Canadian girl (Melinda Stronach) and used Canada as the base for his programs.
