Legal Right
Simply refers to a freedom or entitlement afforded by the laws of the land. In the US, the second amendment enshrines a legal right, a legal right to bear arms. But a legal right might itself be immoral.
Fundamental
Basic and (usually) universal rights.
Derivative
Articulated from fundamental rights, as expressions of those rights in particular circumstances
Moral Right
Refers to a more basic morally reality that should be what is legal
Positive Right
a right that requires other in society to provide soe resource for the right to be upheld
Correlativity Thesis
Rights imply duties and duties imply rights.
Negative right
Refers to a right that requires others not to interfere
Prima Facie
A right that can be assumed, and would require additional information to be overridden, if i can be at all
Absolute Facie
A right applies without exception and cannot be overridden

a philosopher, has argued that the state preventing gun ownership is tantamount to the government being complicit in the criminal deaths and injuries suffered by American citizens.
The “Euthyphro” Dilemma:
Are pious actions beloved by gods because they are pious? ( are devoted actions loved by gods because they are devoted
Divine and Command Theory
What is right /wrong are those actions that are commands by God
- Is killing okay because God commands it
Relativistsim
cultural relativist claims that all religions have their own set of rules and there is no right and wrong
Issues: cultural relativists contradict their purpose
Virtue theory:
Focuses on a person or on character, who you are becoming,

Consequentialism:
an action is right or wrong depending on the consequences that follow.
