Final Continued Flashcards
Give examples of small intracellular signaling molecules
Cyclic AMP
Inositol triphosphate and diacylglycerol
What is the purpose of cyclic AMP
Activates the enzyme cyclic AMP dependent protein kinase (PKA) which can phosphorylate serines or threonines
What generates IP3 and DAG
Phospholipase C
What happens when PI 3 and DAG is activated
IP3 releases calcium from the er to the cytosol. Then DAG activates PKC with the calcium. PKC then phosphorylate other intracellular protein in order to propagate the signal further
What happens when RAS is active
Activates the MAP kinase signaling module
What happens when RTKs activate activate PI 3 kinase
Serve as a docking site that can active other intracellular signaling proteins
What is the relationship between delta and botch
Delta binds to its receptor called notch. Notch is cleaved and migrated to the nucleus to promote transcription of proteins.
What are RTKS
receptors that form dimers with each other when activated
