Final Assigment Flashcards
What is an emergent property?
Properties that are properties of the system as a whole, as opposed to properties of individual parts.
What is an example of an emergent property of a system?
A computer system, the hardware, along with peripherals and software, are a system.
Emergent properties of this system include it having the emergent property of being a communication device, the emergent property of it being an entertainment device, and the emergent property of it being an artistic medium.
What are the four types of system testing?
Acceptance Testing, Integration Testing, Development Testing, Stress Testing (AIDS)
What is an example of Acceptance testing?
If a customer were to ask for a motorcycle that is waterproof, and they tested the system to see if it conforms to this term of development.
What is an example of Integration testing?
If a customer asked for a motorcycle that can go at speed of greater than 170km/h, the developer would continue to test for this specification as the system is integrated.
What is an example of Development testing?
If a customer asked for a motorcycle, as the motorcycle is developed, both the hardware and software should be tested.
What is an example of Stress testing?
If a customer asked for a motorcycle, that motorcycle would be tested to see what speeds it can perform at, how much weight it can carry, and if it can survive a crash.
What is the manufacturing learn out equation?
Number of labor hours to produce nth unit = Number of labor hours to produce 1st unit * the unit number ^ (log(cost fraction per doubled production)/log(2)).
What are the principles of design for manufacture and assembly?
Parts must be simple, parts must use machinable materials, these parts must be easy to assemble.
What does PDR mean?
Preliminary design review
What does MTTF mean?
Mean time to failure
What does LCC mean?
Life cycle costs
What does V&V mean?
Verification and Validation
What does MDT mean?
Mean down time
