Q

WISC/WAIS theoretical basis

A

Wechsler believed in a “global” intelligence, and a pragmatic view of what it allows us to do, not mere sum of abilities. FSIQ is meant to represente index of general mental ability, effective intelligence. Expands on CHC by adding working memory

A

visual scanning speed, hand eye coordination, discrimination, decision making

26
Q

Secondary subtests

A

Use to gather more information, or can be substituted for primary subtests if they are invalid or missing

27
Q

Ancillary scales

A

Can be used to provide more information about functioning; sometimes as a replacement for FSIQ as global measure

28
Q

GAI

A

Excludes Working memory and processing speed

Used when FSIQ is not cohesive, primarily as a result of WM or PS subtests

29
Q

CPI

A

Cognitive processing index. WM and PS–depicts cognitive efficiency that GAI excludes

30
Q

NVI

A

Non verbal–Block Design, Visual Puzzles, Coding, Figure Weights, Picture Span. Estimate of abilities with reduced demand on verbal/expressive responses

31
Q

AWMI

A

Auditory Working memory–digit span, letter number sequencing

32
Q

QRI

A

Quantitative reasoning–Arithmetic and figure weights. Provides information about numerical reasoning abilities
