Q

Explain Habakkuk’s perplexity, his frustration with God’s subsequent response, the Lord’s reasoning with him, and Habakkuk’s final response to God; then discuss how this can apply to your life and how it can be used to help others.

A

Habakkuk was perplexed because he did not like that their was oppression that was going unchecked in Judah. God responds to Habakkuk by telling him that he will use another wicked nation to punish Judah. Habakkuk questions this but the Lord reasons with Him by telling him that He is a just God and that there is a purpose that needs to accomplished. He finally understands God’s reasoning and responds by praying in song. He prays for revival, praises God’s deliverance and provision. I can apply this to my own life by understand that my ways are not better that God’s ways. I should not be complaining during the hard times but remembering the past blessings God has given to me. He is always just and sovereign.

70
Q

Explain Jeremiah’s prophetic illustration to Judah that they will become captive by Babylon, Hannaniah’s rebuttal of Jeremiah’s prophecy, and God’s response to Judah and Hannahiah.

A

Jeremiah symbolizes Judah’s captivity by Babylon with a yoke around Jeremiah. The false prophet, Hannaniah, breaks the yoke off of Jeremiah’s head so the people would know that the yoke is not needed and true. Jeremiah does not react to this false prophet. Instead, God responds by killing Hannaniah. He also makes Jeremiah wear a iron yoke to symbolize that the punishment and captivity will be worse for Judah than before.

71
Q

List and explain three visions, symbols, illustrations, and/or signs presented in Ezekiel.

A

Ezekiel lays on his sides to illustrate the length of Judah’s and Israel’s sin. He lays on his side 390 days for Israel and 40 days for Judah.

Ezekiel shaved his head and beard and dividing the hair into sections represented the dividing and scattering of Jerusalem.

There was a vision with an ink horn. There were six men with white clothing and one ink horn. One man goes and marks and the other five men ill those who do not have the mark. This represents that judgment and death.
