what are the TAWS class A modes?
1 - excessive ROD
active below 2500ft radalt when ROD exceeds limits

2 - excessive terrain closure (rising terrain)

2B, in approach config. “terrain” 200-800ft radalt
3 - Alt loss after t/o or go around

4A, gear up and ldg speed, below 500ft radalt “too low - gear”. >200kts “too low terrain”
4B, flap up and ldg speed, below 250ft radalt “too low flap”. >160kts “too low terrain”
5 - below glideslope
armed when GS signal received, below 1000ft radalt, gear down. Alerts more than 1.3 dots below GS “Glideslope” (soft), more than 2 dots at a low radalt, 300ft, amplitude of “Glideslope” increases (hard). Rearms above 1000ft and below 30ft radalt
6 - minimums and bank angle
standard callouts “one thousand”, “minimums”, “bank angle” when pre determined limit exceeded
7 - Reactive windshear
Uses ROD and airspeed to monitor for microburst conditions, “windshear” x3, two tone siren, windshear warning light
