How does salinization occur?
Accumulation of salts from water. Arid/Semi arid regions. Salt stunts plant growth and kills them
How to fix salinization
Flush with freshwater or grow salt tolerant crops
How does desertification occur?
Soil used in a non-sustainable way becomes more desert-like. Common in marginal lands due to over-grazing, non-native plants, etc.
How to fix desertification
Add organic matter and plant native species
How does waterlogging occur?
Soil becomes saturated by irrigation or precipitation, the water table rises and plants drown.
How to fix waterlogging
Add humus or organic matter to absorb water like a sponge, OR, make holes in the soil (aerate) to promote drainage
