Vertical Integration
The supply chain of a company is integrated and owned by the company. Markets become efficient, can wipe out other competitors. EX AMAZON
Horizontal Integration
Acquiring companies in the same market. Problem bc monopolies and fucks competition.
ILO
International Labor organization, 1919. Sets rules on forced labor, child labor, job non-discrimination, and collective bargaining. WHY: Granted union rights and regulates int. investment so MNCs cant exploit workers, usually in poorer countries.
Integration
Process where supranational institutions come to replace natural ones. Shifts sovereignty from national institutions towards regional/global ones. WHY: economic benefits, trade deals, security benefits.

Founding doc of EU. Established European Economic Community. WHY: Basis/foundation of the EU which represents liberal cooperation throughout Europe.
Supranationalism
Large institutions that a country gives up sovereignty to be a member of. WHY:big step to international govt, and cooperation. EX: EU

Agreement between countries that reduces trade barriers while promoting free trade of labor, goods, services, and capital. WHY:Economic cooperation = mutual economic growth. EX: EU

Common external tariff adopted by members of a free trade area. Unifies tariff amount. WHY: Economic cooperation and stronger trade with nations
EU Social Fund
Aids member states in the EU to improve lives through new skills and better jobs. BEtter quality of life in the EU = stability in EU
USMCA
US/MEXICO/CANADA Free trade agreement. WHY: cooperation to create stronger trade ties.
EU
European Union. Supranational org. Agreement on trade, common currency, foreign policy. WHY: National state identity suppressed for a european idenity. Stability with allies etc.

Gap in access to information and tech between global north and south. WHY: Lack of tech hinders development.

Continuing of colonial exploitation in a former colony, where the colonizer no longer has political control. WHY:Shapes countries politics and prevents groth of underdeveloped nations.
